Dr. Poronsky is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Part-time faculty in the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing. Her past administrative responsibilities included: Chair of the Department of Health Management & Risk Reduction, 2015-2020; Interim Director of the Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program, 2018-2019; and Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program, 2010-2018. She earned a BSN from Loyola University Chicago, MS from the University of Illinois at Chicago and PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
She has taught at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels. Her nurse practitioner clinical practice provided care to adults and children in an ambulatory clinic. Dr. Poronsky has mentored faculty in their professional development and guided faculty towards promotion in academic rank. She is currently seeking to develop a culture of mentoring in the School of Nursing.
Dr. Poronsky has researched and published on the transition from RN to FNP and the effect of faculty mentoring. She has mentored NP and DNP students and guided them towards publication of their scholarly work.
