The Undergraduate Nursing Research Scholar Program (UNRSP) offers undergraduate nursing students an opportunity to get involved in research under mentorship of a faculty member. The nursing profession is rapidly changing, with an emphasis on evidence-based practice (EBP). EBP is essential in updating nursing knowledge and crucial in clinical decision-making. EBP has been accepted as the best approach to health care delivery. Therefore, the improvement of patient care greatly depends on the nursing graduates to have the skills to incorporate EBP with current changes to the health care. In addition, nursing research contributes to the development of new nursing knowledge and is essential to continue to move the profession forward.
Students who participate in the UNRSP will learn the essential skills to determine, interpret and apply the best evidence in their practice and have the potential contribute to new nursing knowledge. Students will also learn to conduct basic research under supervision of their mentors to generate innovative knowledge that bridge the gap between research and current practice.
Undergraduate students who have a good academic standing and maintain a GPA of at least 3.0/4.0.

Nursing Student Research Spotlight
Current: Radia Daud class of 2020
Previous: Kistamae Masiclat class of 2019
The purpose of the Undergraduate Nursing Research Council is to provide an opportunity for undergraduate nursing students, who are interested in participating in research, to explore the process for developing a proposal that could be considered for submission for a LUROP Grant.
The council creates a supportive environment for nursing undergrads to engage in research discussions presented by faculty and fellow nursing students and for undergraduate students to present their research ideas and project findings to students and faculty.
