When I decided to go back to school, I already had several years of experience as an IP and an appreciation for the importance of infection prevention and patient safety. However, the skills and knowledge I gained completing my MSN in Loyola University Chicago’s Infection Prevention program were indispensable. The graduate program focused on program management, implementing evidence-based practice system wide and developing leadership skills. This was the knowledge base I needed to make me successful and advance my career in infection prevention.  The fact that Loyola’s Infection Prevention program is online allowed me the flexibility I needed to complete my studies while working full-time – a huge benefit!

I am now the manager of the Infection Prevention & Control Department at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.  I am responsible for managing daily operations, establishing and maintaining high standards for quality of care and patient safety, and facilitating organizational change.  I have served on the board of my local APIC chapter and on advisory boards focused on infection prevention education and emergency services.  My master’s education at Loyola University Chicago has facilitated my growth as a health care leader.
