Virtual Dual Immersion (VDI)

The Office of Global and Community Engagement is here to offer its continued support to the Virtual Dual Immersion (VDI) Initiative.

VDI allows LUC students to engage with international peers for the purposes of language exchange and intercultural competency development. VDI sessions are online meetings where LUC students join small groups of international partner university students. VDI enhances language learning by encouraging students to interact with native speakers. Additionally, VDI allows for intercultural exchange for LUC students in meaningful ways, discussing topics intended to elicit concepts of diversity, global empathy, and cultural contextualization.

To support the growth of this initiative and assist in the implementation of VDI into your classes, the university has created a self-paced instruction preparation module to help instructors interested in incorporating VDI into their courses. This module will provide course delivery tips, highlight pedagogical innovation of VDI, and discuss expected learning outcomes. To gain access to the module or to learn more about this initiative, please email globalvirtual@luc.edu
