Loyola University Chicago 2018–19 U.S. News & World Report Ranking Update
The 2018–19 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges report—compiled from data collected during Spring and Summer 2018—was published online in September 2018. Loyola ranked 89th among national universities, up from its ranking of 103rd last year. Loyola re-entered the top 100 rankings, after placing 99th in both 2015 and 2016 and then falling just outside of the top 100 last year. This rank is Loyola’s highest placement in the U.S. News rankings to date. Loyola had especially positive results with graduation rate performance and graduation rates. Loyola’s Predicted Graduation rate was 69% while the actual rate was 77%. That’s an over performance score of 8%. Loyola’s rank for the combined indicators of Graduation and Retention improved substantially from 102 last year to 74 this year. This change in graduation outcomes contributed to the overall improvement in Loyola’s ranking. Other aspects of Loyola’s scores remained largely consistent or showed slight improvements. The percent of faculty who are full-time remained the same at 77%. Loyola’s High School Counselor score improved slightly from 3.8 to 3.9. In addition, the university acceptance rate decreased slightly from 73% to 71%. The percentage of classes with fewer than 20 students remained constant at 42%, and the percentage of classes with 50 or more students also remained constant at 6%. The Alumni Giving Rank of 168 was also higher than in the past, though the rate of giving (6%) did not change.
In the ranking of Best Online Bachelor’s Degree Programs Loyola placed 14th out of 357 institutions. Also, on the list of Best Undergraduate Business Programs, Loyola dropped one place to 79th out of 503 institutions ranked. Loyola also made the list of A+ Schools for B Students with a rank of 89th out of 226 colleges.
