Why did you choose to come to Loyola?

I wanted to go to school in the U.S. and my uncle recommended Loyola, who had talked to someone at the university.  I chose to live in the International House because when I went to an ESL meeting, Steve recommended living here.  I also met and spoke with some girls who lived in the International House, and it seemed like a good fit.

What have you enjoyed so far about living in the International House?

I like that I can meet people from different countries.  Every day, I learn something new from a different culture.  I’ve also had two different roommates from different countries.  My first roommate was from South Korea.  I didn’t know how to live without my parents, but my roommate had been living on her own for some time.  So, my roommate taught me who to deal with living on my own.  My other roommate was from Japan, and she also taught me a lot.

Where do you go in Chicago for fun?

I like hanging out with my friends and going to I-house events. The International House events help us communicate and interact, and they’re created for us! These events encourage me to meet new people and talk.

What will you miss most about the International House/Loyola/Chicago?

I will miss all of the people I’ve met so far.  Especially the people who work at the International House because they make me feel welcomed here.  When I first arrived, I was lost because it was my first international experience.  They helped me feel less shy.
