Home Country: Ireland

Major: Psychology

Why did you choose to come to Loyola?

I’ve been obsessed with going to America for a while and when I had the opportunity to study in Chicago, I jumped at it! As well as, I’m studying psychology at home and the course is broad and not really broken up into specific sections. So with Loyola, I get to study different kinds of psychology, such as criminal psychology, and psychology and law; and it’s really fascinating!

What have you enjoyed so far about living in the International House?

Connecting with different cultures and nationalities. Back home, everyone is the same, there isn’t a lot of diversity. So, being able to be in an environment that embraces and encourages, and promotes different ethnicities is great.

Where do you go in Chicago for fun?

Navy Pier, especially the fireworks at night—it’s stunning. Millennium Park and Cloud Gate. Also walking around the campus is really nice—it’s stunning.

Have you traveled anywhere else in the US?

I went to New York before I moved into the International House. I also had the privilege of going to LA with the Chicago Center for October break. Santa Monica was beautiful! I really want to go to New Orleans next!

What will you miss most about the International House/Loyola/Chicago?

I will miss the people from the International House! I’ve gotten so close to the people who live here. And I just had my 21st birthday here and they all bought me cakes and celebrated to make me happy so that was really nice.
