Loyola University Chicago

Program Information

Program Hours, Check-in, and Location

All transfer students are required to attend the entire mandatory program from 9:00AM-5:30PM. Parents and guests, please refer to our Parents and Guests site for your own conurrent, optional program.

Check-in will begin at 7:00AM in the first-floor lobby of the Sullivan Center (6339 N. Sheridan Rd.). Students will receive their personalized schedules at this time.

The Math Placement Assessment will be offered at 7:15AM for students who need to take it.

What To Bring

At check-in, students will receive a small drawastring backpack, to carry around their orientation materials, a folder, a pen, and a water bottle. We recommend packing comfortable clothing and shoes, as well as a longsleeve shirt or sweatshirt since the buildings get cool in the summer. You can also bring your immunization paperwork to give to the Wellness Center at the Resource Fair.

How do I get there?

Orientation sessions are held on the Lake Shore Campus in Rogers Park, Chicago. The City of Chicago has a wide variety of transportation options at your disposal that will get you to our campus quickly and safely.

Orientation particpants can park in the Main Parking Structure (P1), which is accessible from the main campus entrance at the corner of W Sheridan Rd and N Kenmore Ave. Please pull a ticket to enter the garage. You will receive parking validation at check-in. Please park before attempting to check-in for orientation. Complimentary parking, without validation, is available in the Main Parking Structure when parking for less than 30 minutes.

Public Transportation

Public transporation is available through the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The Loyola Station on the CTA Red Line of the 'L' train is across the street from campus and a 10-15 minutes walk to the Sullivan Center.

Taxi or Rideshare

Taxi and rideshare options are also available for transportation to campus. We recommend you provide this address to your driver, 6430 N Kenmore Ave, Chicago, IL 60626, so that you are dropped-off on-campus and not on Sheridan Road.

Generally speaking, give yourself approximately 2 hours of travel time to or from campus and the Chicago airports (ORD and MDW). Chicago traffic can be unpredictable, so give yourself plenty of time to arrive on campus and make it to check-in before 12:30PM.

More information about visting campus is available on the Campus Transporation website
