Data Processing Charges on Externally Funded Projects
The University furnishes faculty members with computer resources through Information Technologies. In general, it recovers these costs through F&A costs. There are two circumstances which would cause faculty to include computer costs as a direct cost in a proposal budget:
- If faculty request either custom-designed, ready-to-run programs or complete sets of tables, graphs, etc.
If a PI/PD will require IT assistance of this kind, she or he should include an appropriate amount as a direct cost in a proposal budget. Please consult Information Technologies, Client Services for an appropriate amount.
- If usage for a funded project is likely to significantly exceed "normal usage," those costs should be charged to the grant as direct costs. Pl/PDs should consult Information Technologies, Client Services for an appropriate amount.
