ORS: NSF Funding Webinar DATE & LOCATION CHANGE
The Office of Research Services (ORS) will host two webinars this fall 2019 on how to compete for NSF (National Science Foundation) funding and how to write success proposals for the NSF CAREER grant.
Webinar Presenter: Lucy Deckard, President of Academic Research Funding Strategies, LLC. She has assisted faculty in preparing numerous NSF and CAREER proposals, many of which were funded. Before starting her con-sulting firm in 2010, Ms. Deckard worked in research development at Texas A&M University for 8 years, most recently serving as Associate Director of the university's Office of Proposal Development and heading their New Faculty Initiative. Previously, she worked as an engineer for 16 years, conducting applied research in industry and obtaining funding from DoD, DARPA and DOE.
How to Compete for Funding from the National Science Foundation (NEW DATE! NOV 4TH)
An approximately 2-hour webinar, with exercises, on the National Science Foundation (NSF) covering the agency's mission, funding priorities, how NSF is organized, how pro-posals are reviewed, the types of projects funded by NSF, how to address the broader im-pacts requirement, and a step-by-step discussion of how to write a proposal to NSF, with an emphasis on how NSF differs from other agencies that fund
research. A Question-and-Answer session will follow.

How to Write Successful Proposals for the NSF CAREER grant
An approximately 2-hour webinar, with exercises, covering the NSF Faculty Early Career Program (CAREER). We will discuss what NSF is looking for, how different directorates use this program, how to decide when to apply for an early career grant, how to position yourself to be competitive, how to develop a strong education plan for the NSF CAREER, keys to success, and common mistakes to avoid. A Question-and-Answer session will fol-low.
