  • After finishing my PhD, I taught Management at the University of Illinois Chicago. I began my career at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare in the Nursing Development department at Northwestern Hospital where I worked on a number of research and education projects. I became manager of Educational Services for the Northwestern Medicine Academy, which combined all clinical and non-clinical education. At Loyola, I began teaching in the Healthcare Administration department, where I teach Healthcare in America and Continuum of Healthcare Services.

    Research Interests

Both Healthcare in America and Continuum of Healthcare Services are Service Learning courses. I have had the opportunity to work with volunteer coordinators at a number of organizations which is rewarding since it gives the students the opportunity to interact with a variety of individuals and broaden their experience.

    Education
    • BS in Mathematics, Northwestern University
    • MA in Sociology, University of Houston
    • MBA, University of Houston

What prompted you to pursue your field?

I began my career at Northwestern to conduct survey research on a funded project. I then began to work on multiple areas of training and development for the Nursing Development department and was able to move into a management position when the Academy greatly expanded the scope of the department. Bacause of my work on many projects at Northwestern, I became familiar with the multiple areas required to run a hospital.
