Adam Hii

Adam Hii is an ABD at Loyola University Chicago in the Department of Political Science. His dissertation project focuses on one-party dominant states and if they can maintain the necessary institutional independence and level electoral playing field to be considered democratic. 

He teaches courses in a wide variety of political science subfields. These courses include introductory and upper level courses in Comparative Politics, International Relations, and U.S. Politics. His research focus is as a comparative political scientist with a regional specialty in sub-Saharan Africa. He am particularly interested in questions concerning democracy and democratic consolidation in the region. His current projects include a focus on one-party dominance, an analysis of democratic consolidation in Lesotho, and a study on the impact of gender quotas on public opinion concerning democracy in the region.
