President Message Regarding Dean Isiaah Crawford
Provost Wiseman and I wanted to share with the Loyola community the good news that Isiaah Crawford, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) since 2004, has accepted a position to become the provost at Seattle University, a Jesuit university of 8,000 students that is ranked among the top ten universities in the West.
Throughout his 20 years with Loyola, starting in 1987 as assistant professor, Dr. Crawford's accomplishments are many. As dean, he initiated a five-year strategic plan that promoted interdisciplinary excellence and faculty growth. He collaborated with others across the University in support of the new University-wide Core Curriculum. He also partnered with the CAS faculty to launch 21 new academic programs. His work has been nationally recognized, including two awards from the American Psychological Association.
While we congratulate Isiaah, we don't underestimate the challenge of finding a strong leader to succeed him. All of us, including his fellow deans, wish him every success in his new position.
Please join the University in congratulating Dr. Crawford, who will leave Loyola in June to begin his new post on July 1 in Seattle.
