Francis L. Fennell, PhD, of the Department of English, appointed as the Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences

Dear Loyola community,
The provost and I are pleased to share the news that Francis L. Fennell, PhD, of the Department of English, has been appointed the position of Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, effective June 1, 2008.
Dr. Fennell has been a member of the Loyola faculty since 1968 and has been serving as the chair of the Department of English since 2001. Prior to that, he served as the College of Arts and Sciences associate dean. In addition, Frank has served the College as director of writing across the curriculum and as assistant dean for the humanities. He also has served the University as a member of both Faculty Council and the university-wide committee on academic review and planning.
I would like to thank all of those who were involved in the selection process for the interim dean. I am pleased that Frank has accepted the position and will serve the College and University in this important capacity. Please join me in offering him your congratulations and your support as he takes on this new role.
