Office of the President

Dan Macaluso Named Interim Vice President for Advancement

April 11, 2019

Dear Loyola Community,

I am pleased to officially welcome Dan Macaluso as interim vice president for Advancement. Dan is part of the Marts & Lundy consulting team currently working with Loyola, and comes to us having recently served as vice president of advancement at Harvey Mudd College, one of the Claremont Colleges. Prior to his role at Harvey Mudd, he served in leadership roles in the advancement offices of the University of Texas at Austin and Emory University.

Marts & Lundy, a well-known firm with expertise in higher education advancement, has been working with the University to assess and benchmark our current operations and provide specific recommendations for establishing best practices and a highly effective advancement unit. During the ongoing national search for a vice president of advancement conducted by the firm Meng Peeps, Dan will begin implementing steps identified in the Marts & Lundy assessment to build our advancement division into one that supports a contemporary and successful practice in university fundraising.

Once the new vice president is appointed, Dan will continue to work with us as part of the ongoing consulting support Marts & Lundy is currently providing. This will enable the new vice president to begin working immediately on fundraising strategies to support strategic plan priorities and further our Jesuit, Catholic mission. It will also enable the new incumbent, along with the Advancement staff, to enjoy the continuity of the Marts & Lundy leadership team and build on the work currently underway.

Again, I would like to thank Dr. Jeanne Colleran, who generously gave us four months of her time to stabilize and work with our Advancement staff prior to Dan’s arrival.  The Board of Trustees and I greatly appreciate Jeanne’s efforts and care for the dedicated staff in Advancement.

Best wishes for the end of the semester.
