Asiyan Suleymanoglu (2013-14)

Project Director, Commercial Mediation Istanbul Pilot Project in Turkey

I developed a project proposal called "Promoting Mediation through the Grand Bazaar" as a final assignment in one of my PROLAW courses.  I subsequently submitted the proposal to the Board of the Reuniting Europe (RE) Programme of the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office. The overall aim of the RE Programme is to support countries in the Western Balkans and Turkey on their path towards EU accession and the programme focuses in particular on stable institutions guaranteeing democracy, rule of law, human rights and the respect for and protection of minorities.  The project was approved in June 2015 and the British Embassy in Ankara is providing funding for the project, which is also supported by the Turkish Ministry of Justice. We've changed the name of the project to the Commercial Mediation Istanbul Pilot Project and I'm the director of the program.
