Degree: MBA International Business, '12
Occupation: Manager-Financial Services Advisory, PricewaterCoopers LLP
Why this program?
This program allowed me to build my professional network, gain leadership skills, and learn how to successfully meet the needs of clients, while being mindful of a timeline and budget.
The coursework and the structure of the program makes it easier for students to organically grow and learn key concepts needed for successful business leaders.
And the professors have current real world experience that they bring into the classroom, share with you their expansive range of experience, expertise, and insight, and always make themselves available to speak with students and provide advice.
I have many during my time at Quinlan! One of my favorite experiences was participating in the annual MBA Cup with my team. For the MBA Cup, local business schools compete in various sporting activities to raise money for a charitable cause. We worked hard and really came together as a team to compete with other schools.
I also enjoyed my time as vice president of two student organizations, LUC Net Impact and the Association of Loyola Entrepreneurs, these experiences allowed me to develop leadership skills that I’m currently using today.
Advice for students in the program?
Students should also seek out Quinlan alumni and other business professionals for informational interviews to show them what a true “day in the life” looks in their field and desired position.
I also encourage them to think about “how” they could add value to an organization. Work on developing some unique skill-sets that the potential employers are looking for in the industry that they are interested in.
Lastly, build your own brand! Companies are not looking to fill current open positions in the market, and they are more selective than ever. Potential candidates with strong technical, business, and global acumen are the most preferred choice of the employers.
I’m also a huge believer of networking, so students should be working their network to secure internships while in school and employment before and after graduation. Networking doesn’t stop with your first or second job, it’s something you always need to do as a professional.
