Learning Goals

Learning goals used in the Accounting Department’s assessment plan for the undergraduate (BBA) and MSA accounting programs are shown below.

Learning Goals for the Undergraduate Accounting Program (BBA)

Goal 1: Critical Analysis

Accounting undergraduates will demonstrate the ability to critically analyze an accounting situation, problem and use technology where appropriate.

Goal 2: Professional Knowledge

Accounting undergraduates will possess fundamental professional accounting knowledge. 

  • Graduates will demonstrate fundamental strategic cost management knowledge.
  • Graduates will demonstrate fundamental financial accounting knowledge.
  • Graduates will demonstrate fundamental audit and business risk knowledge.
  • Graduates will demonstrate fundamental tax knowledge.
  • Graduates will demonstrate fundamental legal and regulatory knowledge.

Goal 3: Communication

Accounting undergraduates possess the ability to document scope, findings, and recommendations of accounting work.

Goal 4: Professional Research Skills

Our graduates will illustrate professional research skills expected to enter the accounting profession.

Learning Goals for Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA)

Goal 1: Measurement

MSA students will demonstrate the ability to identify what needs to be measured, apply the appropriate measures and recognize the strengths and weaknesses of the measures used.

Goal 2: Decision Making

MSA students will demonstrate the ability to critically use financial and non-financial data in decision-making

Goal 3: Research

MSA students will demonstrate the ability to research new or existing accounting issues and topics, understand the link between business and accounting and apply the finding to the business condition.

Goal 4: Risk Analysis

MSA students will demonstrate the ability to identify and manage risk.

Goal 5: Communication

MSA students will possess the ability to communicate scope, findings, and recommendations of accounting work.
