Mask Policy Reminder

If you are fully vaccinated, masks are no longer required in most indoor settings on Loyola's Lake Shore and Water Tower Campuses, but they are highly encouraged, especially in high traffic areas such as lobbies, passageways, and elevators. Wearing a mask if fully vaccinated is a personal choice that we are all obligated to respect.

If you are not fully vaccinated, masks are required indoors and outdoors at all times on all three campuses. Regardless of vaccination status, masks are still required in all classrooms at all three campuses and in all buildings at the Health Sciences Campus

Our mask policy is under review as we plan for the next phase of our Return to Campus, consider new guidance from the CDC, and acknowledge COVID-19 variant concerns amid the increasing but not yet substantial or high levels of transmission in Chicago.

In The News

  • New York Times: Some Americans are still hesitant to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Find out why.

  • NPR: New cases are up by 70 percent this week, and hospitalizations and deaths continue to rise due to the fast-spreading delta variant and low vaccination rates in some areas. Research on possible boosters continues, and many public health experts advise wearing masks indoors.

  • New York Times: President Biden predicts the FDA will give final approval to a COVID-19 vaccine by the fall.
