About

Mariarosy Calleri is a film and television writer and director with a background in journalism and documentary production. Her MA in Media Studies has a specialization in film and television. From 1994 to 2000, she collaborated with the Italian financial daily Il Sole 24 Ore and worked as freelance producer and director for the Italian TV network RAI Corporation and as chief editor for U.S. Mediaset channel CIAO TV. She has won awards for her films on women’s issues at international film festivals in the U.S., Europe, and India. Her films include Uncovering, Hidden Island, Francesca, and Wife for an Evening. She recently wrote a chapter, “Alien Non-Resident”, for the book Mirroring Myths curated by Dr. Vito Zagarrio. In 2009, she was appointed ambassador of female-owned small and medium enterprises of the Lazio Region to the European Commission. She is a founding member of the European Network of Female Ambassadors and Mentors, serving as mentor to aspiring young female entrepreneurs in film and television.
