Jill Drzewiecki joined the JFRC in 2017. She teaches Human Rights: View from Rome. In addition to her work at the JFRC, she has worked as the Gender-Responsive Education Specialist for the Jesuit Refugee Service in Rome since 2016. She moved to the Eternal City in 2012 and worked with the Joel Nafuma Refugee Center until 2015. Jill began her work with displaced people in 1997 as an intern working with street children and studying the Convention on the Rights of the Child in Bogota, Colombia. For more than a decade, she worked with the undocumented immigrant community in the U.S. and served as the director of a statewide non-profit organization. She holds post-graduate certificates from the University of Oxford’s Forced Migration program and Harvard University's Refugee Trauma and Recovery program. Additionally, she has an MS in Environmental Education and a BA in International Studies.
