Dr. Maclaren began teaching Sociology at the John Felice Rome Center in 1999. She earned her Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Rome, Tor Vergata, and her laurea in Cultural and Social Anthropology at the University of Rome, La Sapienza. Her publications include the books Magnificenza e mondo classico (Rome, 2003), La magnificenza e il suo doppio. Il pensiero estetico di Giovanni Battista Piranesi (Milan, 2005), and articles such as “Modernity and Catholic Restoration: the cases of the Blessed Anna Maria Giannetti Taigi and the Blessed Elisabetta Canori Mora”, Devotional cultures of European Christianity, 1790-1960 (2012). Her areas of research and publication are cultural sociology, sociology in the contemporary and global world, Italian society, and race and ethnic relations.
