Sarah Maclaren is a sociology and anthropology scholar who holds a PhD from the University of Rome Tor Vergata and a laurea from Sapienza University of Rome. She is the author of the books Magnificenza e mondo classic (2015, 2nd edition) and La magnificenza e il suo doppio: Il pensiero estetico di Giovanni Battista Piranesi (2005). Her articles have been published in scholarly journals worldwide. She has lectured extensively in Italy, Europe, the U.S., Australia, Japan, Canada, and South America. She is member of the Instituto Arqueologico e Geografico Pernambucano (Brazil). Her fields of research and publication are cultural and sociological studies, sociology and anthropology in the contemporary and global world, sociology of modernization, and history of ideas.
