Caprarola & Ronciglione

Summer Session I Orientation Day Trip to Caprarola & Ronciglione

Summer Session I began with a day long journey to the small town of Caprarola in the Lazio region, near Viterbo.  All 120 new summer session students, visiting and current Rome Center professors, and the Student Life Team ventured to Caprarola to visit the Palazzo Farnese and tour the intricately decorated rooms and beautiful architecture of this 16th century palace referencing the Classical World.  After the guided tour of the palace, the group enjoyed lunch in nearby Ronciglione at a villa owned by one of the Fendi Fashion House sisters.  Ronciglione is also located on the Via Francigena which is an ancient pilgrim route connecting France and Rome.  After lunch the group was dropped of in Piazza Risorgimento, enterance to the Vatican, in the center of Rome.  From here students had the option to participate in a city-wide photo scavenger hunt for the evening.
