Disability Specialist - LSC

Katie Tappel earned her Bachelor's degrees in Spanish and Psychology from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. She later earned her Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and Psychology, with a concentration in Psychiatric Disabilities and Mental Health from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Before transitioning to higher education, Katie gained valuable experience in mental health and non-profit organizations. She worked as a mental health and substance abuse outpatient therapist, and she was a supervisor in a program for adolescents and young adults in foster care with mental health issues. Katie has enjoyed her new role in higher ed at LUC for the past several years, and her favorite part of her job is getting to know her students - beyond the intake appointment!

In her free time, Katie loves reading, doodling, and triathlons. Free time is limited though, as she also has a toddler and an energetic dog that keep her pretty busy! Stop by her office to chat on LSC!
