Philosophy and Mission Statement

The mission of the Student Accessibility Center (SAC) at Loyola University Chicago is to serve students with documented disabilities by creating and fostering an accessible learning environment. Aligned with Loyola University’s Jesuit mission, SAC is committed to serving all students, no matter their race, religion, color, gender identity, sex, age, sexual orientation, ancestry, national or ethnic origin, disability, mental status, protected veteran status, or other characteristic protected by applicable law.

 To accomplish this mission, SAC will:

  • Empower students with diverse needs by enhancing their self-awareness, self-determination, and self-advocacy;

  • Promote awareness of the needs of students with disabilities and encourage the Loyola community at large to respect and care for each individual;

  • Support faculty, staff, and administrators on matters such as ADA and Section 504 compliance, as it relates to individuals with disabilities;

  • Work closely with campus partners, students, and families to create a safe environment for students to succeed personally, academically, and professionally.
