Crime Alert: Individual Harassing People Near Regis Hall and 7-Eleven

Loyola Community,

The Department of Campus Safety is writing to alert you that a male subject has reportedly been harassing individuals near Regis Hall and the 7-Eleven located next to the Lake Shore Campus. The subject, who has been seen primarily during the evening hours (7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.), reportedly approaches female students on the street and asks for cigarettes, hugs, and kisses; he asks inappropriate questions; and in some cases, he has attempted to make contact with the students.

Our office is monitoring the area very closely for the individual, and the reported cases are under investigation by the Chicago Police Department.

The subject is described as: Male, 35 to 50 years of age, 5’7” to 5’10” in height, 190 to 220 pounds; and he has a shaved head. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark shorts.

Safety Tips

  • Stay alert and tuned-in to your surroundings
  • Stick to well-lit, populated streets as much as possible
  • Whenever possible, walk with someone else
  • Do not hesitate to change your course of direction if you see a suspicious person or a group of people while walking; this can include simply crossing to the other side of the street
