Crime Alert - Sexual Assault

January 29, 2014

Loyola Community,

Campus Safety is writing to inform you of a criminal sexual assault/aggravated hand gun incident that occurred in the 1200 block of W. North Shore Avenue at approximately 7:05 p.m. Wednesday night (January 29).

The victim, who is not affiliated with Loyola, was doing laundry in her basement when she was attacked from behind by an offender. The offender stated that he had a gun, though one was never seen, and he threatened to kill the victim if she screamed. He also took her cell phone. He then slammed her head against a beam and proceeded to sexually assault her. He then told the victim that if she moved, he’d kill her. The offender then fled and the victim ran to her apartment and called the police.

The Chicago Police Department report describes the offender as: male, black, 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-2, wearing a black jacket with black and white stripes on the cuffs, blue jeans with holes by the thigh, and tan Timberland boots.

Campus Safety is working closely with the Chicago Police Department on this investigation. If anyone has information on the incident, please call Campus Safety at 773.508.SAFE or the Chicago Police Department via 9-1-1 or 312.744.8263.

Sincerely,

Tom Murray
