Start an Organization

1000 x 560

Starting a student organization can be a rewarding experience. A group of 5+ Loyola University Chicago students may apply for organization registration through the Center for Student Engagement (CSE). As part of our commitment to equity and inclusion, RSOs must be accessible to all communities at Loyola University Chicago. The University reserves the right to limit the number of organizations with duplicate purposes. By registering your student organization with CSE, your organization may take advantage of campus resources to promote your organization, recruit members, hold meetings, and support other activities. To be eligible for consideration, new organization applications must be submitted via LUCommunity within the application period

Follow Campus Activities Network (CAN) on Instagram to receive updates on when the New Organization Application is open!

Please refer to the Student Handbook for the privileges, expectations, and requirements of an RSO.

Elements for an application include but not limited to:

  • Name and email addresses of 5 LUC undergraduate students
    • All officers must be in good standing with the University to serve in position. Conduct checks will be conducted for organizations who are approved.
  • Name and email address of LUC faculty/staff advisor
  • Organization email address
    • Organizations will NOT be given a LUC.edu email address
  • RSO Constitution (made from the provided constitution template)
  • Proposed summary of events
  • Organization Logo

Please note that the title of Registered Student Organization MUST be less than 30 characters. If you wish to include LUC in your title, please put it at the end of the title.

We may request a review panel after reviewing your submitted application. This hearing will give the review panel an opportunity to ask questions about the proposed organization, and for the applicants to ask questions of the panel.

Once we deemed your application as complete and are ready to move forward, the President and the Treasurer of the proposed organization are required to complete the Registered Student Organization (RSO) Orientation. And the President and CAN Rep are required to complete the Hazing Prevention Webinar. Information will be shared in a notification email.

New Organization Application Timeline

The application for the academic year 2023-2024 is open from September 5 to October 6. Campus Activities Network (CAN) will begin to review the applications once the application period is over. If deemed ready, CAN will reach out with further instructions on the RSO Orientation and Hazing Prevention Training requirements. Once those are completed, you will be officially approved with the recognition of a Registered Student Organization (RSO), and you will be able to function and apply for funding as an RSO in Spring of 2024.
