Frank Main has covered the justice system for the Chicago Sun-Times since 1999.
He reported on the first Gulf War and the war in Bosnia. He also covered the aftermath of 9/11 in New York and Hurricanes Andrew and Katrina.
Main was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for local reporting in 2011. Other national awards include the Associated Press Managing Editors' storytelling award in 2017 for "Life on a Ledge," an examination of a suicide he witnessed.
He provided the research for “Drug Warrior” (2019), a book about a federal drug agent’s pursuit of narcotics traffickers, culminating with the capture of El Chapo. Also in 2019, Main hosted a podcast called “Motive.”
He graduated from Emory University and Northwestern University’s graduate school of journalism. He’s an adjunct instructor at Loyola University Chicago and lives in the city with his wife.
