John Carpenter is a veteran Chicago journalist. A former reporter for the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times and the Daily Herald, he is currently a freelance writer, with a focus on travel writing. He is also the editor of RogersEdgeReporter.com, a teaching initiative by Loyola University, in partnership with the McCormick Foundation, and Senn and Sullivan high schools. The neighborhood news site allows students to learn journalism skills by producing real stories and videos.
