About
Sue Castorino is fortunate to have had two distinguished careers; first as a successful on-air broadcast journalist, and now as an internationally recognized media & speech coach, Castorino is president of The Speaking Specialists in Chicago, which she founded in 1986. She provides contemporary media and social media training, issue management, crisis communication, voice coaching and persuasive communication to individuals and groups at the highest levels around the world. She has conducted communications sessions for executives and professionals in business in North America, South America and Europe. She also specializes in working with collegiate, professional, and Olympic athletes and coaches.
Castorino began her broadcasting career in community affairs for WBBM-TV in Chicago. She then served as on-air news anchor and reporter at two major stations in Cleveland, OH: first at all-news radio WERE-AM(NBC) , then at 50,000 watt powerhouse WWWE-AM (3WE) Radio(ABC), where she was news anchor, reporter, and talk show host. She also hosted Cavaliers basketball programs. Castorino then returned to Chicago as news anchor and reporter at all-news WBBM-AM(CBS). She conducted thousands of interviews and covered major local, regional, and national events.
As head of The Speaking Specialists, Castorino brings her wealth of expertise as an anchor and reporter who has been on the front lines, and as a guest speaker and speech coach. She also brings her fresh perspective as the media world continues to evolve.
As a popular guest lecturer at more than 100 universities, her topics range from “Dealing with the 21st Century Media”, “Public vs. Private: You’re Always on the Record”, “Freedom from Fear of Public Speaking” and “Stop Rambling, Start Connecting.”
Castorino joined the Loyola SOC faculty in 2009.
She is a native of Columbus, Ohio and a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Speech. She is an active member of the Screen Actors Guild and serves on the advisory board of Global Traveler magazine.
