Outstanding Student Awards

Students are nominated by faculty members for their outstanding contributions in the classroom, through student organization involvement, internship and professional experience as evidenced by a commitment to the underserved. The SOC honors committee evaluates these applicants based on how students’ experiences have worked towards social justice. We will soon announce the winners of the awards. 

The event will also feature a showcase of student work, including presentations relating to this year's social justice theme: Gender and Power. A light reception will follow.

The awards and honors presented this year include the following:

  • Outstanding Student of the Year, for each undergraduate major of advertising/public relations, journalism, communication studies/advocacy and social change, and film and digital media
  • Outstanding Graduate Student of the Year for Master's in Digital Media and Storytelling
  • Outstanding Graduate Student of the Year for Master's in Global Strategic Communication
  • Members of Beta Rho, the School of Communication's honors society
  • Students graduating from the university's honors program
  • Recipients of the SOC scholarships awarded in 2017-2018
  • Students graduating with honors (3.5 and above cumulative GPAs)
  • The School of Communication Teaching Award
