Below you will find important information, including next steps that must be taken if you plan to accept your offer of admission. You are expected to review the information in each area below to prepare for your graduate career with us. Contact your Admissions Coordinator, Casey Hendricks,with questions.

1. CONFIRM YOUR ACCEPTANCE.

To confirm your intent to enroll, please respond to the admissions response form found on the “Applicant Status Page” of your online application.

2. REGISTER FOR AN MSW NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION SESSION.

Prior to starting your first term with us, you are required to attend an MSW New Student Orientation Session. Please review the orientation schedule on our website and sign up for the session of your choice that corresponds with your start term.

3. APPLY FOR FIELDWORK.

Once you have confirmed your intent to enroll, you should begin the application process to secure a fieldwork internship. Please note: students admitted on probation are not eligible to begin fieldwork in their first term. More details can be found here.

4. APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID.

Seeking financial assistance to subsidize your graduate education? Be sure to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.ed.gov. As a graduate student, you are only eligible for student loans through the FAFSA; explore external scholarship funding via fastweb.com and findtuition.com.

5. SUBMIT A TRANSFER CREDIT REQUEST.

If you have taken any prior graduate level courses that you would like applied to your MSW program, a transfer credit request must be submitted within three days of receiving your welcome e-mail to the program. The process for submitting a transfer credit request can be found in the MSW Student Handbook or here.

6. REGISTER FOR CLASSES

Your first semester classes will vary depending on your program and the term in which you are starting. Please view the recommended course plans according to your starting term listed on the left. You will need to log into LOCUS and register for classes with your Loyola ID username and password. This information should have been sent to you via e-mail. If you do not have this information, please e-mail gradapp@luc.edu to request it.

7. SUBMIT YOUR IMMUNIZATION RECORDS.

Before the semester begins it is imperative that you submit a copy of your shot records to the University’s Wellness Center. You must do this by the 10th day of your first semester. Failure to do so may result in a $50 fine and a registration block on your account for future terms. NOTE: You do NOT have to do this before registration.

8. PREPARE FOR THE START OF THE SEMESTER.

As the semester approaches, be sure to regularly check your Loyola Outlook e-mail and Sakai for course syllabi, textbook information, and other correspondence from the School of Social Work faculty and staff. Check your student account via LOCUS for updates regarding financial aid and tuition billing. Lastly, visit the university’s Campus Card Office to obtain your student ID card.

9. CHECK FOR KEY DATES AND DEADLINES.

The School of Social Work academic calendar contains all program and university-related dates that will be applicable to you as a graduate student.
