MSW Ambassador Duties

Below is a list and description of duties MSW Ambassadors may carry throughout the year. Please review and feel free to RSVP for those you are interested in as instructed AFTER you have submitted a SSW MSW Ambassador Program Application.

Prospective students often contact the Admissions Office wanting to speak with a current student or alum who has insight on the MSW program from a current or past student perspective.  MSW Ambassadors serving as a point of contact or “expert” may be contacted via email or phone by a select number of prospective students (with specific questions they have about the program and being a student) throughout the year.

As an informal way of offering prospective students an opportunity to learn more about the MSW program and careers in social, the Admissions Office holds various Online Information and Q&A sessions where MSW Ambassadors will speak on their graduate and social work career experiences.

Throughout the year, the School of Social Work holds two Social Work Open House events for prospective students and two to three New Student Convocation events for newly enrolled students. During each event, a panel of current students, alumni, faculty, and staff from the School of Social Work provide various insights on the MSW program.

Reaching out to newly admitted students, congratulating them on their admissions, answering questions about the program/student experience, and providing assistance with questions on next steps in the enrollment process

Giving a tour of the Water Tower Campus to a group of prospective or newly enrolled students. Tour scripts are provided for MSW Ambassadors to use.
