Tau Kappa Epsilon: Epsilon Kappa chapter is a social Fraternity at Loyola University Chicago. For short, we often use the acronym of our letters: TKE. TKE is the recent recipient of the 2014 IFC Fraternity of the Year at Loyola University Chicago. Our brothers, whom you can find around campus in their cherry and gray letters, are often referred to as Tekes. Feel free to come up and say hi!

Our organization exists to aid men in their mental, moral, and social development for life. Once a brother of Tau Kappa Epsilon, you are a Teke for life-not just the four years you are an undergrad at Loyola. By developing a life long membership, we are able to follow through on our goal of making “Better Men for a Better World”. In order to find these type of men, we strictly follow the ideal of not recruiting for wealth, rank, or honor, but instead, for personal worth and character. TKE hopes to promote this message throughout the Loyola community because we believe it aligns directly with Loyola's values of creating “Women and Men for Others” who follow the goal of setting the world on fire.

If you do one event with Tau Kappa Epsilon this year it should be joining us for our philanthropy events in the Fall and Spring. We strive to give back to our community in order to recognize our goals of becoming the best men possible. As a national organization, our philanthropy money goes toward St Jude Children Research Hospital. All of the money raised goes straight to the hospital in order to provide children with medical care for life threatening diseases at zero cost to their families. That being said, come out this November and help support our event “Crafts for Kids”. You will be able to fulfill your artistic side by making holiday and get-well cards for the children to open around the holiday season. It is a small, free gesture that is able to put a smile on many kids' faces that unfortunately have to spend the holiday season in a hospital bed. In the Spring, our philanthropy week culminates on a night of comedy from the Second City comedy group when we present “Jokes for St. Jude”. We hope some of you join us because our events are open to the entire Loyola community!

A common misconception about Greek life, specifically fraternities, is that they are just a social club where people spend their free time partying. This is absolutely false. Tau Kappa Epsilon is a fraternity driven in aiding our brothers to be the best possible version of themselves and through doing so, equip our members to use their learned skills to make the Loyola community, Chicago, and the world a better, more caring place. Academics, service, philanthropy, and leadership are all trademarks of our organization that each one of our members strives to achieve.

You should join our organization if you are a male student who cares about any one of these qualities: service, philanthropy, academics, brotherhood, networking, and leadership.

With over 2,000 hours of community service last year and $7,500 of funds raised that went directly towards philanthropic causes the Epsilon Kappa chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon prides itself on giving back to our community. With a chapter grade point average above the Loyola all-male collegiate average, academics are a cornerstone of TKE. By being founded at Loyola in 1956, our alumni populate all sectors of the Chicagoland area and world. The networking opportunities available from the oldest fraternity at Loyola University Chicago are endless. Another invaluable opportunity you will find should you join TKE, is the cultivation of leadership. Whether it be within our chapter, on the Interfraternity Council, Student Government, or in Residence Life, you will be able to find a mentor within the chapter whom possess experience in any one of these school leadership roles. Finally, an obvious aspect to our organization is brotherhood. If you are interested in a support group of forty-eight life long friends then Tau Kappa Epsilon in the right organization to join.
