ACU Lead

Study abroad at Australian Catholic University (ACU) through Loyola's Exchange Program. You will have the opportunity to study at the ACU campus in Brisbane, Melbourne, or at one of the two campuses in Sydney*.

PLEASE NOTE: Students who study abroad on Global Exchange programs should prepare for a highly independent and immersive experience. You will take courses with host university faculty and be held to the same academic policies and standards as local students. Academic support will vary across programs and often differs from the support you receive at Loyola. While the coursework and support may be different than what you are used to in the U.S., the grades you receive abroad will still factor into your LUC GPA.  Check out our policies page for more information on academics.


Australian Catholic University is a publicly funded university with seven campuses around Australia and beyond.  ACU is Australia's leading Catholic university and is supported by a strong, more than 2,000 years old Catholic intellectual tradition.  ACU welcomes students from all backgrounds both domestic as well as international. With a wide variety of courses available, students from all majors can find potential courses to suit their need. 


Banyo Campus

Located in the northern suburb of Banyo, this well connected campus includes many facilities as well a wide range of course offerings appealing for students from all majors. Visit Kangaroo Point, the Queensland Cultural Center, the City Botanic Gardens as well as the unique neighborhoods like Fortitude Valley and the West End.


Strathfield Campus

Located in on of oldest suburbs of Sydney, the Strathfield campus is located on 14km away from Sydney's City Center and is easily connected by public transit and a free ACU Shuttle from the Strathfield station to campus. Student will be able to enjoy the campus setting while remaining close to the hustle and bustle of downtown Sydney. Strathfield itself is home to a vibrant and multi-cultural population. With Sydney's Olympic Park close by, there is never a shortage of activities.

North Sydney Campus

Only a short five minute train over Sydney's iconic harbor from the bustling city center, the North Sydney Campus is at the heart of Sydney. With a focus on primarily business courses, students can experience Australia's economy from the heart of it's largest city. Close to the harbor, Luna Park and the Taronga Zoo students has no shortage of things to do.

North Sydney

At ACU you will have the opportunity to live in university-sponsored housing which offers students the option to take part in a full range of free social, academic, spiritual and cultural events every month.  You will live with both international and Australian students while being only a short commute away from campus.

Loyola and ACU recommend taking advantage of university housing as it is a great way to meet other students and integrate into the university culture.

The ACU staff is always happy to help you arrange accommodation for your time on exchange.

The Miguel Cordero Residence (MCR) student residences are located in Camperdown, only a short commute away from Sydney's city center, the location offers great access to a wide range of activities including the Camperdown Oval for sporting events and recreation and Newtown for shopping and the arts.

Application Process

  • Complete an LUC application to be eligible for nomination to host university by OIP
  • Once nomination is accepted by host university, OIP will follow-up with next steps


Please note that you will need to meet OIP's application deadlines in order to be considered for the program.
