This is an intensive month-long language and culture immersion program in the UNESCO world heritage city of Córdoba, Spain. This program provides students with an introduction to Spanish life, language, and culture in the historic city of Córdoba. Students will study in classes specially designed for beginning to advanced students. Every weekend, students will participate in academic excursions across the region that introduce students to Spanish society, culture, and commerce.
This faculty-led study abroad program is part of SPAN 101/102/103/104/250/251/270/271/300, taught by Dr. Natalia Valencia. All courses will integrate local Andalusian culture, history, and literature into the coursework as appropriate to the language level of the student. Students may, for example, take SPAN 104 & 250 if that is where they are in their sequence of Spanish coursework. Final course selections will be decided after placement test. All students must enroll in 2 courses/sections for a total of 6 credit hours. The courses offered are:
- Elementary Spanish Sequence: SPAN 101, 102, 103, 104
- Intermediate Level Spanish: SPAN 250 & 251 Composition & Conversation
- Literature in Spanish: SPAN 270 Critical Analysis, SPAN 271 Iberian Literature & Culture

You will have a private room in the home and one to two students will be housed per family. In order to help improve each student's Spanish language skills, host families have agreed to speak only Spanish with students.
The host family will provide two meals per day (breakfast and dinner during the week, breakfast and lunch or dinner during the weekend). You will be responsible for all other meals. You are expected to notify their host family in advance if you will not be eating at home for a provided meal and you assume all costs when you elect to eat out.
