Harvest Sporting Group: Managing Today's Supply Chain Disruptions

Harvest Sporting Group: Managing Today

During this virtual conversation, Thomas Siegmund, CEO of Harvest Sporting Group, Inc. talked about his company's key operations, and highlighted some key operational supply chain issues and the solutions that have allowed Harvest to prosper and grow in the current challenging business climate.

About Thomas

Tom led an investment group in 1995 in the acquisition of Sportsman's Supply Inc., a national sporting goods distributor based in the St Louis area. Through organic growth and additional acquisitions, the business has grown to become a key supplier of sporting goods to ecommerce retailers by adapting business processes that match everchanging customer demands with the retailers' logistic and fulfilment needs. Sportsman’s Supply also started an affiliate company, CommerceRev, that provides specialized digital marketing and logistic consulting services equipping client companies with strategies to drive business across Amazon and other ecommerce platforms. A third affiliated company, REP Outdoor Group, is a designer and manufacturer of novelty sporting themed gifts under the Rivers Edge Product brand and fishing tackle under the Tackle HD brand.

Tom also implemented a successful start-up strategy selling sporting goods on 3rd party marketplace platforms beginning in 2008 that led to the creation of Concourse Holdings LLC in 2012. Today, the company is one of the largest sporting goods retailers focused on 3rd party marketplaces. Starting in 2014, the company made a series of acquisitions focusing primarily on baseball/softball ecommerce retailers and related wholesale operations to schools and leagues. The company’s retail focus includes the websites baseballexpress.com, softball.com and teamexpress.com as well as a national sales team for the wholesale segment.

Prior to running his own businesses, Tom was senior credit officer for ITT Financial and Heller Financial. During his tenure at ITT, he was responsible for all commercial credit and Chairman of the wholly owned bank subsidiary. At Heller Financial, Tom was a senior credit manager and advisor to the Chairman and CEO.

Tom earned his BBA in Accounting from Loyola University Chicago and his MBA from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management.
