About

Jennifer A. Burke is a lawyer who counsels clients on environmental compliance and enforcement matters. She served on the Illinois Pollution Control Board from 2011-2017. Previously, she was senior counsel on environmental matters in Chicago’s Law Department and partner in the Jenner & Block law firm.  Burke sits on the advisory board and teaches at Loyola University Chicago’s School of Environmental Sustainability. She is an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. Her law degree is from Chicago-Kent College of Law. She is Jesuit-educated through Georgetown University and St. Ignatius College Preparatory High School. Burke lives in the Little Italy neighborhood of Chicago with her husband and four sons.

Program Areas

Burke’s experience includes air permits (NSR, PSD, CAAPP), water permits (NPDES), wetlands (Section 404), brownfields remediation (CERCLA, RCRA, SRP), and corporate and real estate transactions (Phase 1, AAI). She represents clients in federal, state, and local matters. She also advises clients in property tax matters including tax treatment (exemptions and incentives) of environmental conditions.
