Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s with Master of Public Policy (MPP)
From ecological restoration to water conservation, from climate change adaptation to storm water management, the challenge is clear. The need for individuals with literacy and skills relevant to both environmental science and public policy has never been greater.
The SES Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s program with master of public policy (MPP) prepares graduates to meet these challenges effectively in careers in government, non-profit organizations, and businesses.

Credit hours
Students accepted into the Five-Year BS/MPP Dual Degree Program can complete requirements for a BA or BS degree in four years and a MPP degree in a fifth year.
Students accepted into this program may complete coursework in five years because they will take two 300-level SES courses and two 400-level MPP courses during their senior year (12 credits) that will count toward both their BA/BS and the MPP degree.
Taken in the senior year, two relevant 300-level SES courses count as graduate electives and two 400-level MPP courses count as general electives toward the student’s 120 credit hours for the BA or BS degree.
The MPP degree requires 37 credit hours of coursework—12 three-credit courses, which includes a three-credit internship or capstone experience, plus a one-credit Professional Development class. This is a professional degree program; it does not require a thesis but rather an internship or capstone experience, which allows students to apply the skills developed in the program and gain work-related experience.
