February 18, 2019, through February 24, 2019



February 18, 2019: 3 pm Stritch School of Medicine room 434 – Join us for the Loyola Health Sciences Sustainability Committee monthly meeting. We will be focusing on waste issues at Maywood including a special guest describing the full waste handling process from desk-side bin to the recycling center.

Week of Feb. 18-25: Clean Plate Challenge – This program takes place throughout the week at Loyola dining halls and brings light to the issue of food waste by Loyola students and our commercial composting program. Volunteers are needed and can sign up by emailing Cami Provencher at cprovencher@luc.edu.

Feb. 19 noon – 1 p.m. – Corboy Law Center Room 727 -  Waste Not: Resources for Preventing Food Waste at Water Tower – Join us for a Brown Bag presentation from Office of Sustainability staff and student leaders to learn more about organizations working to prevent food waste on campus.

February 20 at 7 p.m. - One Earth Film Festival Pre-Screening – Loyola is hosting the Chicago premiere of the RiverBlue, a journey through the polluting impact of the fashion industry and its impact on the planet’s rivers. Free to all guests with a discussion to follow.   Film’s Director will live-stream into a post-film discussion.

Feb. 22 at 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. – LSC Main Parking Garage -  Divert It Day! Join our Zero Waste Team to divert your waste from landfills. Learn about all our programs including Compost Buckets, Cycle, and Recycle Center, LOCALS, and enjoy hot chocolate and giveaways!

Zero Waste Events at Gentile Arena – Now, all sporting events at Gentile will be zero-waste events with recycling and composting offered by Loyola’s student-run concessionaire, Wolf’s Kettle.
