The ideas around corporate citizenship are evolving. Increasingly, corporations are asked to create revenue and be more socially responsible. Navigating environmental protection and the well-being of employees while innovating product can be a challenge. These companies—Gotham Greens, Iroquois Valley Farms, Patagonia and Baxter Healthcare—innovate in their various sectors with an eye towards revenue, sustainability, and the common good. At various turns their practices mimic the cycles of nature, have a zero waste process, and advocate for a different type of corporate culture. This panel will include executive officers who have a nuanced understanding of corporate sustainability and whose companies are challenging conventional notions of “business as usual.” Our panelists told their stories of transforming industry and discussed various approaches to promoting and executing corporate social responsibility from within.
