The Institute of Environmental Sustainability provides hands-on internship opportunities for students to get deeply involved in our environmental initiatives. IES has connections with some premiere partner organizations for additional opportunities beyond the University.

|There are many opportunities for students to get involved with IES in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. We regularly offer internal internship positions in the Searle Biodiesel Lab, Urban Agriculture Program, Campus Sustainability, Marketing/Communications, and IES Front Desk. Hiring timing is based on the timeline further down on this page. The following are more detailed descriptions of individual internship opportunities currently available:

Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum Internship
The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum’s (PNNM) collections contain approximately 290,000 specimens and artifacts collected from the 1830s to the present. The Spring 2018 Intern will be an Entomology Collection Intern and will verify the taxonomic nomenclature of insect species, identify insect specimens, ensure specimens are properly labeled, and update specimen data.
