More school sites relaunch

The School of Communication and the School of Continuing and Professional Studies have recently relaunched their sites with the new Loyola template, while more sites related to the Quinlan School of Business sites were refreshed with the new design.

The School of Communications home page brings together headlines from not only the official SOC blog, but also the Loyola Student Dispatch, Hubbub, the Center for Digital Ethics & Policy, and other sources. The page also features a textured image of the school's headquarters, the 51 E Pearson building. Check out the SOC site at LUC.edu/soc

With it's launch in the new template, the School of Continuing and Professional Studies now has a new URL: LUC.edu/adult-education. The change is part of an effort to use search-friendly URLS that contain whole words, as opposed to acronyms that may be unfamiliar to most users, particularly prospective students. Nearly 100 SCPS sub-pages received the SEO (search engine optimization) treatment and now feature new URLS, updated metatags and a paragraph at the end of most pages that contains an action item, such as "request more information" or "attend an open house".

The Quinlan site now includes 10 formerly separate web sites, such as Executive Education and several centers, under one umbrella, bringing more uniformity to the school's web presence. Visit LUC.edu/quinlan.

This new template will be rolled out to the rest of LUC.edu in the coming months.

Post Your Events to the University Calendar

Long overlooked and underutilized, the University Calendar (LUC.edu/calendar) is now playing an increasingly important in promoting events at the University, thanks to a few recent upgrades.

With the new University template, for example, events from the calendar can be automatically published to a department’s home page through a calendar module. Examples of the calendar module in action can be found in the right column of the Quinlan School of Business, SCPS, and School of Communication homepages.

The calendar also pushes to other areas on the Loyola web site, including Inside Loyola, the Open House/Information Session registration system, and Loyola’s mobile app.

And starting this week, the University Calendar is now being published directly to the digital screens located throughout the university.

Any Loyolan can submit an event by going to LUC.edu/calendar and clicking “Submit an Event” in the upper left. Users can enter all the event details, as well as suggest one or more placements for the item. To have something considered for the digital screens, for instance, users should post the event to "University Calendar." All submissions to the calendar are reviewed and subject to revision by University Marketing and Communication.
