Bret Lewis, PhD
Bret Lewis earned his PhD (2011) and MA (2001) in Religious Studies from Arizona State and his BA (1996) from the University of Notre Dame. His research interests include world religions, religion and higher education, and theory and methods in religious studies. He has studied and written articles exploring the impact of religious studies and world religions courses in a variety of institutional contexts. As a Luce Foundation fellow, he conducted field research on the teaching of religious studies in Java, Indonesia and later received a Research Partnership Grant (LUC) to explore themes of religion and higher education in Tunisia. During his time at Loyola he has also received the Sujack Teaching Award and has served as Assistant Chair of the Theology Department.
