Response to COVID-19: Going Online

As Loyola University Chicago transitions classes online, the Tutoring Center is committed to the success of students and is working to transition all programs online starting Monday, March 16. Please see the following on how students can access program services. Please note that Tutoring Center services will still end on Friday, April 24 and close for the Easter holiday April 9-12.

Supplemental Instruction 

The SI session schedule located on the home page of the Tutoring Center website (luc.edu/tutoring) will be updated on Monday, March 16 with Zoom hyperlinks for each SI session. As always, any student enrolled in a SI sponsored course may access any SI session. For instance, if a Math 131 student is not in a section with a SI leader, they may still join any online Math 131 SI session. Please note this is drop-in (no appointment) and students can join the Zoom SI session at any time during the scheduled 50-minute period. Please note: SI sessions are cancelled Sunday, March 15 to prepare to transition online.

Peer Tutoring: Drop-in (Philosophy and Modern Languages)  

Peer tutoring for classes with drop-in hours (philosophy and modern languages) will have their hours posted on the SI session schedule located on the home page of the Tutoring Center website (luc.edu/tutoring). The session schedule will be updated on Monday, March 16 with Zoom hyperlinks for each drop-in peer tutoring sessionPlease note this is drop-in (no appointment) and students can join the Zoom drop-in peer tutoring session at any time during the scheduled time. Peer Tutoring: By Appointment  

Peer tutoring appointments will continue to be made on TutorTrac. Students will receive an email from their tutor 1-hour prior to the scheduled appointment time with a Zoom link to access the appointment. More information on Peer Tutoring and how to make an appointment on TutorTrac can be found here. 

Success Coaching 

Success Coaching appointments will continue to be made on TutorTrac. Students will receive an email from their Success Coach prior to the scheduled appointment time with a Zoom link to access the appointment. Accessing Zoom 

If students have never used Zoom before, they are encouraged to login to https://luc.zoom.us/ using their LUC UVID and password prior to the session. Then, download the Zoom program (on laptops) or app (on smartphones/tablets).  

If the student does not have access to a webcam, microphone, or the internet, the student is encouraged to reach out to the SI Leader, Peer Tutor, Success Coach, and/or Tutoring Center staff (tutoringcenter@luc.edu) for alternative options.  

If Zoom is not working, students are encouraged to review the Zoom participant’s guide, call ITS at 773-508-4487, or email ITS at helpdesk@luc.edu.   

If the link is not working or the SI Leader/ Peer Tutor/ Success Coach is not present at the designated time, please email the student leader or tutoringcenter@luc.edu
