Class Cancellation Extended

1/30/2019, 3:30 p.m.

With the frigid forecast continuing, the University is extending the cancellation of all classes through Thursday night. Classes will resume as scheduled on Friday, February 1. This applies to the Lake Shore, Water Tower, and Health Sciences campuses, as well as course locations in Vernon Hills (Cuneo Mansion and Gardens); Woodstock (the Loyola Retreat and Ecology Campus); and Downers Grove (the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing location). Please visit LUC.edu and check your Loyola e-mail for any additional updates.

As stated before, only essential personnel are asked to come to campus in the meantime. Those staff members will have the opportunity to take two days off with pay within 45 days of Thursday, January 31. Managers will need to work with HR to coordinate pay for these employees.

All other faculty, staff, and students should stay home or in their residence halls until the severe weather subsides. Those staff not requested to report to campus should remain home and will be granted paid time off without being required to use any accrued vacation or personal days.

The residence halls and Lake Shore Campus dining halls will remain open for those on campus. The Damen Student Complex including the main parking garage, Damen Student Center, Halas Recreation Center, Gentile Arena, and Norville Center for Intercollegiate Athletics will also remain open with regular hours of operation. All other buildings and facilities, including libraries, will be closed. Additionally, tonight’s men's basketball game against the University of Northern Iowa is still taking place. Thursday’s men’s volleyball match against UCLA will also take place as planned in Gentile Arena at 7 p.m.

The Intercampus Shuttle will resume at 7 a.m. on Friday, February 1. Please contact Campus Safety at 773.508.6039 if you need emergency transportation.
