August 30 • 6 p.m. Oh, What a Bloody Good Friday! Mystery Play
East Lawn; if rain, Mullady Theatre

Enjoy a contemporary version of a fourteenth century mystery play in which the death and resurrection of Christ takes place in a modern Irish city. The importance of this event is often undercut by the raw cynicism of the locals, but equally, to their surprise, it begins to build a momentum and importance that goes beyond a local brawl. The play aims to present the earthiness of the human experience, and the presence of what lies beyond our understanding, the spiritual, at a time when an erudite theology has not yet been formulated.
