Sofia Newaz, MA, LPC, joined the Wellness Center in January of 2023. Sofia received her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adler University in Chicago. Prior to joining the Wellness Center, Sofia provided services as a Clinical Psychotherapist in a private practice setting. Sofia’s goal is to create an environment where clients feel supported facing whatever is bringing them in to therapy. Sofia is dedicated to creating an open-minded and non-judgmental space where laughing, crying, and venting are all things perfectly welcome during sessions. Sofia’s theoretical orientations include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Person-Centered Therapy. Sofia believes that you have the power and strength to grow and change from within, and the goal during sessions would be to provide the client with the tools they need to get them there. When she is not at work, Sofia enjoys going to her dance studio, hanging out with friends, and enjoying outdoor activities.
